Alright, so I saw this Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG online, the official flagship store, you know? And I thought, “Why not try to remake this?” I mean, it looked kinda simple, right?
So, I started by looking at a bunch of pictures of the bag. I studied the shape, the size, the way the flap opens, and that little YSL logo thingy. It’s called a “CASSANDRE closure,” fancy name, huh? Anyway, I needed to get the materials. I went to a few stores, trying to find the right kind of leather. It had to be smooth, but not too shiny, you know?
- First, I made a pattern. I drew it out on some paper, making sure the measurements were just right.
- Then, I cut out the leather. That was a bit tricky, gotta be careful with those sharp tools.
- Next, I started sewing. I used a sewing machine for the straight parts, but some of it I had to do by hand. The corners were especially tough.
The hardest part was probably that CASSANDRE closure. I couldn’t find one that looked exactly like the real thing, so I had to get creative. I ended up using some metal pieces I found at a craft store. I bent them and shaped them until they looked kinda like the YSL logo. It’s not perfect, but it does the job.
The Finishing Touches
After I sewed all the pieces together, I added a lining. I used some soft fabric I had lying around. Then, I attached a strap. I decided to go with a simple chain strap, I think it looks pretty good with the boxy shape of the bag.
It took me a few days, but I finally finished it! It’s not exactly like the real Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG, but I’m pretty proud of it. It’s a good size, it holds all my stuff, and it looks kinda chic, if I do say so myself. I learned a lot making this bag. Next time maybe I will try some of these Quince’s YSL Bag Dupes, they said good.
