So, I’ve been seeing this YSL June Box Bag everywhere, and I just had to have it. But, you know, the price tag? Not so much. That’s when I thought, “Why not make my own?” And that’s exactly what I did.
First off, I went online and started looking up everything I could about this “June Box Bag.” Turns out, it’s a pretty big deal. It’s got this cool, boxy shape and a fancy metal YSL thing on the front. They call it a “Cassandre,” which sounds super important. It’s also got this quilted pattern all over it. I spent hours looking at pictures, trying to get every detail just right.
Then, I had to figure out what I needed. I’m no stranger to crafting, so I had a bunch of stuff lying around already. I found some nice, sturdy fabric that looked like the real deal, and some softer stuff for the inside. I also picked up some foam to give it that puffy, quilted look, and a chain for the strap because that is what everyone did. I wanted it to be as close to the original as possible, you know?
Next, I got to work cutting out the fabric. I made a pattern based on the pictures I’d seen, making sure to get the size and shape just right. I cut out two pieces for the front and back, two for the sides, and one for the bottom. I also cut out a bunch of smaller pieces for the inside pockets and the flap. I tell you that cutting the fabric is not the most difficult part, but it is the foundation of the bag.
Sewing Time

Sewing it all together was the fun part. I started with the inside, sewing the pockets and lining to the main pieces. Then, I carefully sewed the front, back, and sides together, leaving the top open for the flap. Getting the quilted pattern right was tricky, but I managed. I sewed rows of stitches in a diamond pattern, stuffing each section with a bit of foam to make it pop.

The flap was the last piece. I sewed it separately, adding a magnetic snap for closure. Then, I attached it to the top of the bag, making sure it lined up perfectly. It took some time to sew the whole bag together.
Finally, I added the finishing touches. I attached the chain strap to the sides of the bag, and I even made a little YSL-like charm out of some leftover metal I had. It wasn’t the real Cassandre, but it looked pretty close.
And there it was, my very own YSL June Box Bag. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine, and I was proud of it. It looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Plus, I saved a ton of money by making it myself. That’s what I call a win-win. And I can show my new bag to my friends and neighbors!
