This OMEGA Speedmaster, that’s a big name for a watch, ain’t it? They call it “Dark Side of the Moon” Apollo 8. Well, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the general store. Seems like it’s a real fancy thing, all black and shiny. They say it’s a special one, for them astronaut fellas.
These young folks, they all want one of them copy OMEGA watches. Say they are not cheap but worth it. They show me the pictures. Looks pretty, I guess. All dark, like the night sky. It got them little hands movin’ around. This watch, it’s like the moon, they say. Got a dark side, just like the real moon.
This Apollo 8, that was a big deal, I reckon. Back in ’68, that’s the year my youngest, Billy, was born. They went around the moon, them astronauts. Brave fellas. This here watch, it’s s’posed to be like a reminder of that. A tribute, they call it. Sounds important.
Now, this watch, it ain’t like the ones you wind up every day. This one, it’s got somethin’ special inside. A “Caliber” somethin’. Don’t ask me what that means. Sounds complicated. They said it is custom made. I guess that means it’s made real good, not like them cheap ones you get at the five-and-dime.

This watch has a special dial. “Skeletonized,” they call it. Sounds kinda spooky, don’t it? Like bones and such. But it just means you can see the inside, all them little gears turnin’. Looks kinda neat, I guess. If you’re into that sort of thing.
They say this copy OMEGA watch, it’s popular. These young folks, they go crazy for these things. Back in my day, we just had a plain old watch to tell the time. Didn’t need nothin’ fancy. Now they got all the bells and whistles.
